Eye Examinations in Goole

At Blenkinsop Opticians we have spacious, air conditioned, wheelchair accessible sight test rooms fitted with state of the art optical equipment. Our longer test times means we can tailor your eye examination to your individual needs and we aim to make your eye examination a relaxing and comfortable experience.

Our experienced team of Optometrists will not only assess how clearly you see but we assess the overall health of your eyes. We will screen for early signs of eye conditions such as Glaucoma, Cataract, Blepharitis, Dry eyes, and Macular Degeneration and general health conditions such as Blood Pressure and Diabetes that too can cause changes to the back of the eyes. We will check your intraocular pressures and use a Visual Field Analyzer to test your peripheral vision and a Fundus Camera to take a picture of the back of the eye. We offer both private and NHS eye examinations.

Whether you are booking on behalf of a loved one or wish to experience the practice for yourself call our team to book and appointment or discuss your eyecare needs on 01405 763439

Our Equipment

At Blenkinsop Opticians we have some state of the art optical equipment which you can read more about below:

We have recently invested in a piece of equipment called Optical Coherence Tomography (or OCT for short). This is a piece of equipment used in hospitals that allows us to see behind the back of the eye, like an X-ray or MRI scan and helps us detect conditions in greater detail and potentially sooner than standard techniques.

The feedback so far is that our patients love it! They tell us its comfortable and there is nothing to fear. They are amazed (as we are!) that in just a few short minutes we can do a 4D scan of the eyes and using the latest software to analyse the scan. The Optometrist can often give you instant feedback on your eye health.

Corneal topography involves mapping out the surface of the eye called the cornea. It provides your Optometrist with a 3D scan of the cornea.

It is useful in our Contact Lens Assessments including contact lens fittings and aftercare. It is particularly useful in fitting RGP and OrthoK contact lenses. These contact lenses can then be tailor made to the exact specifications of your eye.

OrthoK contact lenses are expertly fitted by our Optometrists. They gently reshape your cornea whilst you sleep. When you remove your lenses in the morning you can see clearly throughout the day without your glasses or contact lenses. There is also some evidence to suggest that it is also useful in slowing the progression of childhood myopia (short-sightedness).

Corneal Topography can also help detect and manage certain eye conditions such as Keratoconus.

See our Contact lens page for more information on the contact lenses we offer.

This piece of equipment measures the thickness of your cornea which is the transparent window over the surface of your eye. It’s a useful measurement to take in those individuals considering laser corrective surgery, those patients who have a family history of Glaucoma and as part of our Ocular Hypertensive monitoring scheme.
